Who do I contact to find training in my area?

On the Registered Clubs Locator page look for a gym that is close to you or contact webmaster@vausaboxing.org for additional help finding a club or trainer that would best suit your needs?.

Are there any age limits for amateur boxing?

Generally speaking the age limits are from 8 - 35 years old for both male and females. There is the possibiliy of competition for persons older but with certain restriction. Download the USA Boxing rulebook at www.usaboxing.org for full details

How do I become an amateur boxer?

After finding a trainer/club in your area you must register with USA Boxing. This can be accomplished by contacting the Registration Chairman Gail Jordan. Her number is 757 692 3061, call after 4PM (she has another job) please Yearly registration is $40 for athletes and $60 for non-athletes.

Why do I need to be registered?

You are not eligble for competition until your are registered and will not be entitled to the sports accident insurace coverage offered to members.

What is covered by USA Boxing’s participant sport accident insurance?

This insurance covers USA Boxing’s registered athletes and non-athletes whose premium has been paid and whose names are on file at the USA Boxing headquarters office. This insurance only covers boxing-related injuries that are sustained at USA Boxing sanctioned events and organized practices. It is payable after any other insurance has been exhausted. I love boxing but do not desire to compete. Is there anything I can do to still be involved in amateur boxing?

ABSOLUTELY!!! Become an official, which includes referees, judges, timekeepers, tournament directors, weight masters, inspectors and draw masters. You need to join USA Boxing as an official member by registering with your LBC. You must also be certified by your LBC. These actions need to take place in order for you to serve at any USA Boxing sanctioned event. Contact vbzmachine@gmail.com for further information.
